Dr Cat’s News Update February 2021

Wow, we’ve hit February already! How did a month go by so quickly?

I find it hard to believe that 28th January was my one-year cancer-versary… exactly a year since the scan and biopsy where I first realised I had cancer. What a year it has been! It’s made me reflect how fortunate I’ve been with my journey, and how lucky we are to be alive, especially with new and more virulent strains of Covid hitting the rest of the world, while we live in relative normality.

As I’ve shared before, the cancer experience last year pushed me even more deeply into a focus on health and wellness, and with it being Valentine’s month, we wanted to give the gift of wellness with a copy of our book ‘Grow Younger With Great Food’ being gifted to each person who has an initial consult for either skin or injectables. This is a great time to refer your friends (and get your $50 referral credit), or if you’ve been on the skin side of the clinic and thinking about trying injectables, or doing injectables and considering a skin consult, now is your time!

If you’re wanting to up your ‘mojo’ for your valentine this year, or have been struggling with painful sex, floppy erections, or leaky bladder, you might want to ask your clinician about the O-Shot and/or ThermiVa (for women), or the P-Shot (for men). Popular media personality Polly Gillespie approached us about trying the O-Shot, and then writing about it for Woman magazine. Keep an eye out on the shelves to hear about her experience, which she has also shared on her Instagram

I’ve been thoroughly enjoying all the America’s Cup action (again, we are so lucky to be in NZ right now!), and Auckland has such a buzzy vibe right now as the big boats fight it out to determine who will challenge Emirates Team NZ for the cup. We’ve been enjoying such beautiful long, sunny days, so I’ve been loving my Heliocare 360° sunscreen tablets and doubling them up with my Heliocare 360° topical sunscreens. If you haven’t tried them yet, have a look on our web store here, or ask the team next time you’re in clinic. I have a convertible sport car, so have been grateful for the extra protection so I can drive around with the roof off in this stunning weather! The Heliocare 360°  mineral sunscreen is lovely and gentle – great for kids – and the Water Gel is one of my faves when heading out into or onto the water.

Over the holiday break, I had a great day with friends on the superyacht Ubiquitous in the Bay of Islands and the Water Gel sunscreen really came into its own. We went swimming off the boat, jet-skiing, used the on-board spa pool to warm up, and some brave souls jumped from the top level into the sea (one of them had a ruptured eardrum to thank for his bravery). On the way back to Paihia, we had a wonderful visit with a big pod of dolphins, who took great delight in jumping and somersaulting off the bow wave, with some jumping as high as the first deck! It was a very special experience, and despite the constant jumping in and out of water on a sweltering hot day, I didn’t get any sunburn.

If you have already got dry, sun-damaged skin on the face, neck or hands, you might want to chat about Profhilo with one of our injecting team. This injectable HA hydrates and strengthens skin from the inside, with only 5 injections each side! We’ve been chatting about it a lot recently, but you can find more information here

Wishing you a month full of love, gratitude and sunny days as we celebrate Valentine’s Day, America’s Cup racing, and continued great weather. It’s so good to be in NZ and to be alive!

Loads of love and blessings,

Dr Cat 😻
