Lauren’s Top 3 Skin Treatments (& Lockdown Lessons)

Firstly, it goes without saying that you can’t possibly go without your home care if you want to keep your skin healthy and looking its best, and quite frankly if I had to go without this over lockdown, I may have had to break into The Face Place to replenish my supplies. Please don’t try this yourself – lucky for me I had reserves!

Lockdown was a great experiment regarding determining what my skin really missed. Access to treatment has obviously been limited for the last few months and wow, what a difference that made.

1. Healite II LED Light Therapy

One of my biggest deprivations was missing out on regular Healites – I noticed a tangible difference in the skin texture. It lacked the plump firmness that I’m used too and as soon as I got back on track with treatments, I almost saw an immediate difference.

Healite is light therapy that stimulates wound healing and repair, resulting in improved hydration, less sensitivity and collagen product. My skin is always radiant immediately afterwards and in the long term, it thickens the skin and improves texture. I ideally like to do a course every eight months with maintenance treatments in between.

2. Microneedling With My Gold Roller

Another dearly missed tool was my Environ Gold Roller: although not due to lockdown, it has been stored away for a few months due to a big renovation I’m doing and was accidentally relegated to ‘storage’. Again, an addition to the skin regime that makes an immediate and long-term change in the skin: home rollers create shallow perforations in the skin that allow your home care to absorb so much better, giving far superior results.

3. Vitamin A Peels

I managed to do a Vitamin A peel a few weeks ago – the first in a while. This type of treatment can give fabulous all-round results for just about anyone and everyone.
We refer to Vitamin A as a cell normaliser, which means it is responsible for keeping your skin in tip-top condition. When we use relatively high doses in the form of a peel there are many metabolic improvements occurring. Firstly, a peel or flake can be induced which gives the skin a rapid cell turnover leaving the skin clear and luminous.
There’s also a much longer-term response where we initiate something called gene transcription where damaged DNA can be repaired, and collagen can be stimulated. In essence, the Vitamin A peel approach is addressing many issues: skin texture (lines, pore size, laxity), pigmentation, hydration, oil flow and hydration.

Fortunately for all of us, skin treatments are now available again and the team at The Face Place is incredibly excited to see you all again and help you get your skin back to looking its best ASAP!

Your Skin Team Leader,
Lauren
