August is a big celebration this year as we celebrate being in business for 21 years – and you get the goodies!! We have an incredible prize pack for one lucky winner!
All you need to do to get in the draw is have an appointment with us during August or September. We are booking up fast already, so get in quick if you’d like a chance at winning! What’s in the prize pack? It’s a plethora of goodies I’d love to have myself, as so many of my favourite things are in there!
If you happen to be the lucky winner you’ll receive a $500 credit on your TFP account, and a fabulous AST skincare package; a one-night stay at The Hotel Britomart, where you can pop down and use your $150 dinner voucher at either one of my favourite restaurants – Cafe Hanoi for Vietnamese, or her Chinese street food sister, Ghost Street as both are tucked just under the Britomart hotel. You can follow up dinner with a delicious Giapo ice cream voucher (if you follow @drcatstone on IG, you guys know it’s my favourite ice cream!); and for a bit of fun for you or a friend, you’ll get a Missy Mini vibrator from @girlsgetoff! We are all about intimate wellness and pleasure, and absolutely love (and giggle at) their fabulous IG 😹💗 Check it out, if you dare!
We also have some great deals and giveaways e.g. if you spend over $500 in-clinic in one transaction with us during August or September, we’ll gift you our amazingly delicious and healthy recipe book ‘Grow Younger With Great Food’, authored by holistic nutritionist Jessica Giljam-Brown and me, with up to date nutritional and lifestyle advice on what to eat to help balance hormones, increase energy and keep your body fit, healthy and youthful. It also has over 70 of our favourite healthy, quick and easy recipes – my faves at this time of year are the leftovers frittata, slow cooker sticky black rice and nutty chocolate fudge, but there are so many good ones to choose from! It’s a wonderful gift for Xmas or birthdays, and I love a birthday where you guys get the presents! Plus I’m a big believer in a birthday month (or longer 😹).
I actually officially started The Face Place in late 2000/early 2001, and first registered the business in June 2001, but we are celebrating our 21st official birthday this month and September, as it’s my birthday month, along with a large proportion of my best friends!
I’ll be meeting two of my birthday besties in Bali this month to celebrate our birthdays, and I also get to stay in the wonderful new sanctuary that has been built at my favourite retreat for women, Escape Haven. This will be my 5th stay with Escape Haven, and I’m excited and delighted to try their new ‘Ayurvedic healing’ retreat, with daily practices and a mix of Ayurvedic and Balinese spa treatments and healing sessions! They’ve built an amazing saltwater pool with a fire pit, for Balinese fire ceremonies, and some new Jacuzzi suites with a private Jacuzzi (although I think I missed out on one of those unfortunately 🥲). Their new private spa area looks blissfully divine! You can check them out on IG @escapehaven or have a look at their website www.escapehaven.com to explore the different types of retreats they offer. So far I’ve done the surf package, yoga package, detox package and bucket list package, so I’m working through their list pretty well! I can’t wait for some beautiful Bali sun, healthy food and incredible healing and spa treatments – my body is so ready for the bliss!
This last month has been a lot tougher than I expected, as the fatigue has hit me again, especially last week. A couple of weeks ago I managed to run our Profhilo Workshop with the wonderful support of two of our senior nurses, Marjorie and Esme, and we got to teach the Profhilo Body techniques for hands, arms, knees and tummy skin as a last-minute add-on to the planned face, neck and chest 1/2 day workshop. The official Profhilo Body launch will be in NZ at the end of August, with a 3ml syringe being launched specifically for the body (face and neck uses a 2ml syringe). It was super exciting to be able to share some of the knowledge from Paris IMCAS and provide a ‘teaser’ for what’s coming up! We have opened up dates for another Profhilo Workshop on 17 October, which will book up quickly. I’m delighted that once again we received a 10/10 rating in the feedback from every single participant!
Last week I struggled my way through a short Volite training update for our team – luckily it was for our internal team and they are all experienced injectors, as I faded badly after the first couple of models, and then just observed the team working their magic. It’s fortunate that all were highly confident and competent in the techniques, and enjoyed the training while being very understanding of my struggle with fatigue and my need to curl up in a chair to observe them! 😹🤷♀️
The fatigue was so intense that I cancelled a planned trip to Queenstown over the weekend, and instead prioritised self-care – resting lots and meditating, reading, journaling or watching videos. Over the 3 days from Friday to Sunday I managed to go for a Healite, infrared sauna, massage, kundalini yoga session and float to try and recharge my batteries again, and I finally feel a bit better.
I’ve been slower to recover from the fatigue than I had thought I’d be, so I’m hoping that some healing time in Bali will be just what the doctor ordered! I’m so grateful for the incredible support from our team, especially the senior injectors who have been just amazing in supporting me in training, coaching and supporting our team. Our new GM, Nicci, has also been an absolute superstar settling into her role, meaning that I’m confident handing over most of the running of the business to her. Thank you, ladies, you make my life so much easier, so I can focus on the important things like training and supporting our team in the things that only I can do (for now) 🙏😻
Last month I talked about attending Paris IMCAS’s pre-conference training on aesthetic ultrasound, and this month we splashed out and invested in an aesthetic ultrasound! I’m excited and delighted that we are the first clinic in NZ to get the Clarius Portable L20 HD3 Aesthetic Ultrasound, and now I have to figure out how to use the damn thing! The ultrasound course was awesome, but it was just the beginning, and it didn’t teach important things like ‘how to charge the machine and turn it on’! I’ve got a 168-page manual to get my head around, and a bit of practice, but after finally figuring out how to turn it on, I was able to get some OK images of the temple, lip, chin and jawline last week. I’m looking forward to playing and practising with it a bit more over the next few weeks and months… we will probably start using it shortly to help us look at old filler to see where and what it is, and then move into using the ultrasound for training, mapping the blood vessels and managing complications. Within a year or two, it’s likely this will be seen as the gold standard for the cosmetic medicine industry, so it’s wonderful to be leading the way in NZ yet again.
We continue to invest in ongoing education, with the skin team attending the Observ conference at The Cordis next week; Beck, Eve and Esme representing TFP at the NZSCM conference in Queenstown at the end of this month; and the rest of the medical team attending AMAC conference in Sydney in September. We have the Vampire Academy this weekend which will be a mix of our newer team members and industry nurses learning how to do the Vampire Facial®️, Vampire Facelift®️, Vampire Breastlift®️, O-Shot®️ and P-Shot®️. I am grateful that I’ll be supported by Kaitlin and Marj for the weekend and excited to have our full team soon able to provide these treatments.
Like many businesses, we are being hit with illnesses of both our team and our patients, so thank you for your patience with us, and the constant reshuffling that seems to be happening at the moment. Our team are really doing their best, so we appreciate your patience with them. You might notice we have some new team members answering the phones – Carla, MJ and Wyan are our newest employees and will be answering phones and emails to help our lovely front desk team focus on your customer experience while in the clinic. We are delighted to have them on board, and they’ve been keen to learn as much as possible from Treena and Sophie who have been teaching them the TFP way!
The fabulous news is that the days are starting to get longer again, and soon we will once again be coming into summer! Our team is still very booked up, so if you’re planning to get IPL this year, I’d recommend making your appointments soon, as we usually finish up IPL in early October, and with the Skin Team booked several weeks ahead, it will roll around faster than you realise!
We have our new anti-viral, anti-bacterial white overcoats finally being launched for our clinical teams this month, so keep an eye out for them! We are continuing with very strict protocols to reduce the risk of spreading Covid and flu’. Please look after yourself, and if you’re not well, please reschedule – we do have last-minute gaps that are coming up quite a bit at the moment due to last-minute cancellations, so keep an eye on social media where we’ll post any last-minute appointment availability’s on our @thefaceplacenz stories or give the team a call. We look forward to seeing you in-clinic and celebrating with you!
Sending so much love and healing hugs (especially once I get to Bali! 👙 ☀️ 🏝)
Love, Dr Cat 😻
