Dr Cat’s September Update 2023

Spring has sprung for 2023! Although we are getting foggy mornings, it’s so nice seeing the sun come out, with blue skies and the days getting longer… bring on summertime! ☀️

August was a big month for us with almost all our clinical team members attending conference, another hugely successful Vampire Academy, a new team member, and of course, my birthday! 🥳🎂

You’ll see in the main body of the newsletter this month some of the learnings that Lauren and Bryony gained from attending Skincon 2023 in Australia, and our medical team brought back from Aesthetics AU in Sydney.

I attended NZSCM in Christchurch with just over half of our medical team a couple of weeks ago. I was invited to speak about EmFace, and had a great response to my talk! It was so lovely to have so many of our team able to attend, and we have a huge list of cool things we want to try from the conferences! If you follow me on IG (@drcatstone) you would have seen me trialing the Exion – a non-painful RF needling device – for my face and for my tummy scar. We have been looking at RF needling devices for a wee while and I wanted to wait and trial this one before we made any decisions… we like to trial treatments thoroughly before making a decision, so watch this space!

So special to attend NZSCM with some of our fabulous team – (from left) Camille, Marilou, Marjorie, me, and Sanja.

I was pretty exhausted after the NZSCM conference as I had facilitated our Vampire Academy – training doctors and nurses from all around Australia and NZ in the O-Shot, P-Shot, Vampire Facial, Vampire Facelift and Vampire Breastlift – the weekend before. A massive thank you to Queza and Marjorie who did so much to support me and ensure a smooth and efficient training experience for our attendees. We had a great crew and everyone went home with practical knowledge and experience – once again we had almost everyone rating the training as 10/10.

We have the Hyalase Workshop and Profhilo Workshop coming up this month, and we still have a few spots left if you are a cosmetic injector!

In response to a lot of demand over the last few years, we are excited to soon be launching further training for injectors through our TFP Academy, starting with a Foundational Botox course and then leading into foundational, intermediate, and advanced courses in Botox, fillers, and PRP. If you are a doctor, nurse, or dentist wanting to develop your skills in cosmetic medicine, please watch this space or email us (training@thefaceplace.co.nz) and we can keep you updated with the 2024 course dates.

If you haven’t yet downloaded My Face Place app, I highly recommend you do it now! You can see your upcoming appointments and any forms you need to complete prior to the appointment, before and after photos, and the balance of your loyalty points – and it’s super easy to make a new appointment. As we start to use more of the digital plans you’ll be able to see your suggested treatment plan in the app as well. Once you have downloaded it, I’d recommend making your pre-Xmas appointment as those spaces will be booked up quickly, and we don’t want you to miss out!

Download the app for Apple.

We are delighted to welcome the beautiful Taryn to our team. You will see her at reception in the Takapuna clinic or you might chat with her on the phone. Taryn is a fellow breast cancer survivor and has been wanting to work with us for quite a while, so when a space came up, she jumped for the role! Taryn has had a long-standing passion for skin and for our industry so is a wealth of knowledge and a beautiful addition to our team!

On the 29th of August, I celebrated the final year of my naughty 40’s – although unfortunately, they haven’t been that naughty! With the big 50 looming next year, I feel very blessed to have another run around the sun, especially after the last few years! I had a lovely few days with my brother and his family in Ashburton after the NZSCM conference and celebrated a brunch with them, and a virtual celebration with our team at our full team meeting, then I flew back to Auckland for dinner with friends that night. While it was a quieter celebration, it was full of love and I feel very blessed and grateful for my life and the people in it 💗🙏🏻😻

I headed back down to Ashburton that weekend to celebrate Father’s Day with my brother. It was our first Father’s Day without our Dad, so was quite poignant. Jamie’s partner Grace made the fabulous suggestion that we sponsor a race in Dad’s name to celebrate him, so the Geoff Stone Memorial Race ran at 1.45 pm on Sunday at the Ashburton Racecourse. It was a lovely way to remember Dad, and I’m pretty sure he would have been stoked!

As we roll into spring and summer it’s worth checking out our skincare specials, plus, our amazing deal on the Environ Home Roller (check out Lauren’s demo video too!).

We have some really exciting big announcements coming up over the next couple of months – you’ll start seeing some pretty major changes once we have announced our news, so keep an eye on our social media, especially our IG @thefaceplacenz

Have an incredible month, and we look forward to seeing you in clinic again soon!

Love and hugs,

Dr Cat 😻

I got a shock. The results from the mastectomy were definitely not what I expected. You may recall that last month I was recovering from my second mastectomy and reconstruction, purely as a precaution because they found high grade pre cancer in the breast at a biopsy...
