Profhilo
Profhilo is an entirely new type of hyaluronic acid injectable gel that not only hydrates beneath the skin but also has a prolonged stimulating activity on the fibroblasts (skin cells).
Dr Catherine Stone attended the launch of Profhilo in Paris five years ago, and was one of the first to be chosen to take part in the initial New Zealand trials. The results of the trial, combined with the positive support from Dr Cat’s global aesthetic network, has resulted in The Face Place adding this treatment to our repertoire of non-surgical Cosmedicine offerings
FAQs
What's the first step with Profhilo?
We are a best-practice clinic and consistently deliver optimal results by placing paramount importance on education and informed consent.
How is Profhilo different from regular dermal fillers?
It is classed as an ‘injectable moisturiser’ but it offers many other benefits. Its ability to stimulate collagen and elastin and improve skin texture makes it significantly different from other ‘injectable moisturiser’ treatments.
Profhilo has opened up a new injectable category – bio-remodeling.
To summarise the complex science, it contains two types of HA. Together they combine to provide both a ‘Hydro’ effect and a volumetric ‘Lift’ effect.
How does Profhilo work?
It not only boosts and hydrates the skin, but it also remodels the ageing and sagging tissue.
Hyaluronic acid occurs naturally within our skin but it depletes as we age. Profhilo replaces the lost HA, helping with hydration, and stimulating collagen and elastin as well. It also has a bio-revitalising effect on tissue, tightening and rejuvenating it to improve laxity.
What Profhilo made up of?
Our body’s production of HA decreases from the age of 27 resulting in our skin becoming thinner, drier and more fragile.
What can Profhilo help with?
It is best suited for individuals noticing skin laxity and crepey, dull skin in the face, neck, hands or décolletage area.
How does Profhilo work?
How many treatments of Profhilo are needed to see results?
Profhilo usually involves two treatments spaced one month apart. Some people may require three treatments.
The results from Profhilo treatments will most often last for up to nine months, but results can differ from person to person.
Typically, clients repeat Profhilo treatments from six to 12 months in order to achieve and maintain the best results.
Is a Profhilo treatment painful?
There are five specific BAP (bio aesthetic point) injection sites on each side of the face or neck where our clinican injects Profhilo into the facial skin. From there, Profhilo gradually spreads out across the facial tissue.
It has a very sheer, runny texture which means it spreads out across the face very well, so this means that multiple injection sites are not required.
How long does Profhilo treatment last?
Are there any possible side effects of Profhilo?
As with any injectable treatment, there is a risk of swelling, redness, tenderness and bruising for 24-48 hours after treatment.
Initial lumps may take 24-48 hours to settle completely. There is a very rare risk of potential infection or prolonged lumps. Lumps are more visible when treating the neck; they are less noticeable on the face.
Lumps visible immediately after treatment on neck
Lumps on neck reduced after 24 hours
Because Profhilo’s beneath-the-surface stimulation of cell renewal occurs over the skin’s natural skin cycle, there is no risk of a puffy, bloated or obviously treated appearance.
