New Zealand Society of Cosmetic Medicine Conference

I am truly grateful for the invaluable opportunity to have attended the New Zealand Society of Cosmetic Medicine (NZSCM) conference in Christchurch, where I gained profound insights and cutting-edge knowledge that will undoubtedly elevate my expertise in the field of cosmetic medicine.

The conference centered around the intricacies of facial assessment, advanced dermal filler treatments, the art of layering techniques, EMFACE and much more.

EMFACE was the most impactful part of the conference. What makes this even more remarkable is that it was presented by the one and only Dr. Catherine Stone, a luminary in aesthetic medicine and the founder of The Face Place.

EMFACE is a revolutionary non-invasive treatment designed to rejuvenate your skin and provide a more youthful appearance. It works by utilising advanced technology to stimulate your skin’s natural regeneration processes, using low-level electrical currents to gently stimulate your facial muscles, promoting collagen and elastin production. This results in firmer, tighter skin and reduced fine lines. It creates lift and tones the underlying facial structure. Additionally, it enhances blood circulation, contributing to a radiant, youthful complexion.

EMFACE is an excellent option for individuals looking to combat signs of ageing, such as fine lines, sagging skin, loss of skin texture, collagen, and elasticity. It’s suitable for various skin types and tones. However, a consultation with a certified clinician or provider, like our expert skin specialist at The Face Place, can determine if EMFACE is the best choice for your specific needs.

Layering techniques using HA (hyaluronic acid) dermal filler emerged as another key theme for me. Dr. Priya, an expert cosmetic doctor from the UK, showcased innovative approaches to achieving optimal outcomes, unobtrusive improvements, and holistic results. She also illustrated the importance of thorough facial assessment as a fundamental step for personalized treatment plans. Each individual’s facial anatomy is unique, and a thorough assessment ensures that cosmetic procedures are tailored to the specific needs and desires of the patient. In addition, by assessing the patient’s facial structure, skin type, and potential risk factors, aesthetic practitioners can make informed decisions about the most suitable procedures and techniques, minimizing the risk of complications. This facial assessment ensures that the results of cosmetic procedures will maintain facial harmony and balance, preventing over-correction or unnatural-looking outcomes. A proper assessment can explain what can and cannot be achieved through cosmetic procedures, reducing the likelihood of disappointment post-treatment.

Another resounding theme throughout the conference was the commitment to safety and patient well-being. Speakers stressed the importance of the rigorous testing and regulatory standards that underpin these advancements, assuring practitioners of their credibility and reliability. Cosmetic practitioners are held to high standards of care, including patient safety measures. Adhering to these standards maintains the integrity of the profession. Many countries have regulations and guidelines specific to cosmetic procedures; adhering to these regulations is essential to ensure patient safety and legal compliance.

Overall, the conference empowered attendees with advanced knowledge and techniques, ensuring we will remain at the forefront of the evolving landscape of aesthetic medicine. We departed armed with an in-depth knowledge and mastery that will enable us to provide our patients with the most advanced, effective, and safe aesthetic treatments. We’ve explored groundbreaking ideas and uncovered the potential for progress in our respective areas of expertise.
