Volite – Hyaluronic Skin Booster

Relatively new to NZ, Volite is an injectable hyaluronic skin-conditioning treatment which is one of the newest products in the Juvederm hyaluronic rejuvenation range, and is a unique injectable treatment designed to improve skin quality for up to 6-9 months with a single treatment.

It has a lower concentration of hyaluronic acid (HA) than other fillers, and is designed to improve skin hydration, smoothness, elasticity and overall skin quality in the face, neck, hands and décolletage.

FAQs

Do you offer a consultation for Volite?
Yes, as with all of our services, you must have an Initial Injectable Consultation before proceeding with your first Volite treatment – regardless of if you have had this treatment elsewhere. This ensures you are fully educated and informed before proceeding with treatment.

We are a best-practice clinic and consistently deliver optimal results by placing paramount importance on education and informed consent.

How is Juvederm Volite different to regular dermal fillers?
Juvederm Volite, a hyaluronic skin boosting treatment, is injected more superficially into the skin than fillers, to improve skin texture, plumpness and hydration. It can be helpful for fine lines around the mouth, and is injected in a grid-like pattern to provide reservoirs of hydration to the skin, rather than injected directly into the lines.

The treatment is designed to stimulate collagen and elastin production in the skin, strengthening and thickening the skin. Rather than instant results, optimal results usually visible in the first month.

What type of skin is Volite best for?

Volite is an injectable treatment that improves the appearance and hydration of the skin. It contains 12mg/ml of cross-linked Hyaluronic Acid and 0.3% lidocaine hydrochloride. Hyaluronic Acid is a naturally occurring substance in our skin. It is a hydrophilic substance, which absorbs water and hydrates our cells. Our body’s production of Hyaluronic Acid decreases from the age of 27 resulting in our skin becoming dehydrated, lack lustre with fine lines and wrinkles.

Volite is best suited for people with significant sun damage, peri-menopausal women or anybody who has poor quality skin.

What does Volite do?
When injected into the deep dermis (the lowest layer of the skin), Volite causes pressure on the Fibroblasts (special cells in the Dermis), this results in the Fibroblasts producing more Collagen and Elastin. This improves the elasticity and firmness of your skin. The Hyaluronic Acid also attracts water into the cell improving tissue hydration.

This process doesn’t occur immediately but over a period of 2-4 weeks.

How many treatments of Juvederm Volite do I need before I see results?
Usually only one treatment of Juvederm Volite is needed, with clients often choosing to maintain results with annual repeat treatments.

In clinical trials, 91% of patients were more satisfied with their skin, 96% had smoother cheeks after treatment, and after 6 months, patients still saw improvement from the initial treatment.

If your skin is severely dehydrated and damaged due to sun or hormonal changes, you can repeat treatments more frequently to boost results.

Who is Volite NOT suitable for?
People who have had previous allergic reactions to Hyaluranon; pregnant or breastfeeding; unwell with a cold or active infection; less than a month after laser resurfacing and with a history of or current significant bleeding disorder.
Does the Juvederm Volite treatment hurt?
The ‘ouch factor’ is significantly reduced by the use of an anaesthetic cream, and the product also contains an anaesthetic.
Are there any possible side effects of Volite?
Due to multiple small injection sites your skin can feel ‘sunburnt’ and look red and inflamed for 24-48 hours afterwards. We make the treatment more comfortable by using topical local anaesthetic cream.

Bruising can occur 12-24 hrs after treatment, especially in those taking blood thinners, anti-inflammatories, fish oil and turmeric. Bruising is not harmful and can be covered by makeup and will usually resolve over 2-10 days.

Are there any rare side effects with Volite?
Rarely, allergic reactions can occur to Hyaluranon or the local anaesthetic cream. It can be treated with antihistamines. There is also a small risk of infection which can be treated with antibiotics.

As we are a best practice clinic, all potential side effects will be discussed with you prior to treatment, as a part of informed consent.
