Highlights from AMAC 2022

We asked each of the team who attended AMAC (Australasian Medical Aesthetics Conference) 2022 to sum up their experience and share some photos from the exciting two-day event in Sydney. We are so proud of all of them!


NURSE MARJORIE
I was fortunate enough to be part of the AMAC 2022 conference, an exclusive invite-only medical aesthetics event held in Sydney, Australia. It was an incredible experience sharing knowledge with the world’s best international speakers of the aesthetic industry. As an advanced cosmedicine nurse at The Face Place, I will never stop learning in advancing my skills and knowledge to provide the best care and safe treatments to my clients.

The two-day innovative event covered the latest approaches and the future of aesthetics, particularly in ethnicity, cultural and consumer trends, diversity of beauty and transformation. The one that stood out the most to me was understanding clients’ behaviour and motivation (consumer trends) to better meet their needs and deliver a positive outcome.


Four key themes that drive consumer behaviour change in cosmetic treatments:

1. Beauty empowerment: A non-surgical and/or body treatment can boost self-confidence and self-esteem. Non-surgical treatments can create a considerable positive change in how clients feel about themselves, as a positive association with self-image is greatly linked to an increased level of happiness and life satisfaction.

2. Un-tabooing treatment: There is greater transparency now of how people view aesthetic treatments and taboos and stigma related to this matter are breaking down.

3. Aesthetic fluency: More and more clients now are presenting to the clinic with a “prepared-not-scared” mindset. This perspective helps practitioners to meet the needs of each client by developing a client-practitioner relationship and engaging to deliver a positive outcome.

4. Back to nature: Clients are increasingly conscious now of the personal impact they have on the environment. At the conference, they reported that 80% of the consumers in the UK, USA and China said if they have a choice, they will always pick a brand with a better record of sustainability. At The Face Place, we are very proud to be part of the Sustainable Salons Network. The importance of sustainability can’t be understated. The future of our planet depends on it, and it is the key to a better future.

NURSE HANNAH…
AMAC was a fantastic experience. I feel honoured to be invited to attend and proud to be there with The Face Place team. A focus at the conference was on ethics in the industry with an appreciation of diversity, in beauty. We were able to watch live injecting treatments by some renowned experts, achieving natural bespoke results. I have lots of new knowledge to bring into my practice and it was a great opportunity to see the direction the industry is going in.

I absolutely loved attending the Australasian Medical Aesthetics Conference (AMAC) in Sydney. It was a great time to bond with some of The Face Place team members, as well as watch some of the best Australasian injectors do what they do best – live on stage! We got to learn about individualising treatments for different ethnicities, the transgender community and how to manage facial trauma patients. I can’t wait for next year’s trip!

LEAD NURSE QUEZA
They say you never forget your first. This was my first AMAC, and it was a truly amazing experience for me. It has been almost two weeks since our Sydney trip, but the buzz from two days of talks on challenging perceptions of beauty and enhancing identity through transformation, as well as live injecting sessions, is still with me.

I was happy to be seated front and centre, as Nathalie McNeil, Allergan Aesthetics ANZ AVP & General Manager, opened the conference with a talk on changing the narrative on Cosmetic Medicine. Listening to her speech on empowering confidence, engaging in world-leading education, and encouraging the collective to raise the bar of the aesthetics industry, made me realise that I was also figuratively at the front and centre of these very themes. The Face Place’s core value is Cosmedicine with Integrity, and I am privileged to be attending AMAC with the TFP team.

The session that most resonated with me was the live injecting session presented by Dr Steven Liew, transformative beauty that is gender inclusive. It reminded me of the reason why we do what we do as cosmetic medicine injectors. We help our clients present themselves the way they feel on the inside, and that makes them stronger, and more confident – truly empowering.
