The Importance of Efficient Skin Diagnosis

Choosing the best skin care can be an absolute minefield and it is easy to be swayed by social media and other influences. Many products out there will do little to make a legitimate change in the skin, and the best you can hope for is a nice smell, texture, and pretty packaging. Even brands that do contain active ingredients may not be potent enough to absorb effectively and stimulate a positive response in the skin. If you use the appropriate, active skin care regularly, it can account for around 80% of progress.

If you want to get things moving and achieve healthy, beautiful skin it’s essential to have a thorough skin consultation. You will have heard me harping on about the importance of using Vitamin A and antioxidants, but it’s a bespoke process. These ingredients need to be at an appropriate dose and type for your unique skin condition. Not only that, but it is also important to evolve your skincare routine as your skin changes. This will mean potentially adding a product or taking something away, increasing the amounts of Vitamin A to help reverse damage in the skin, or changing the type of antioxidant formulation.

At The Face Place, we are in it for the long haul when it comes to caring for our clients. We start with a one-hour consultation, including the Observ skin scanning device. This gives us the opportunity to look at underlying sun damage, lipid barrier function/hydration, skin thickness, and vascularity. With a comprehensive visual and lifestyle consultation it puts us in the best position to prescribe the optimal products for you. We are sticklers for education, so we also love to give you the lowdown on exactly what ingredient we suggest and why and how it will change your skin.

OBSERV
The OBSERV is a state-of-the-art skin analysing system that assists with accurate skin condition diagnosis.
The OBSERV allows our Skin Therapists to visualise your total skin condition including the underlying “invisible” layers, skin structures and patterns.

So, I talked about being in for the ‘long haul’ and this is because tangible change does require some time, after all, it is often potentially years of damage we are trying to address. Once you have had your skin consultation, we send you away for a month to do your homework: this may seem like a drawn-out process, but if you are using medical-grade skin care, there is enough activity just with home care until your skin is healthier and more resilient. This will make subsequent clinic treatments safer and more effective, also remembering that treatments should be an adjunct to your skincare and not replace it.

If you are ready to fast-track your skin to health, the perfect start is with our May offer, a complimentary consultation, $150 toward your prescribed or recommended skincare and 8 Healites to reduce inflammation, increase hydration and stimulate repair, putting you well on your way to beautiful, healthy skin.

Offer available until 31 May 2023.
