The TFP Team Volunteer at Nurturing Families

Last week we had the privilege of visiting the amazing Not For Profit Charity – Nurturing Families based in West Auckland. We spent two days volunteering at their warehouse in Henderson, sorting, packing and organising donations of essential items to families in crisis.

Nurturing Families works alongside organisations including the NZ Police and various government agencies to provide material goods as well as wrap-around services such as a community centre and home respite support.

Over the two days we spent at the NF warehouse, we unpacked, sorted and organised donations and packed boxes of essential items for families including clothing, nappies, wipes, bedding, prams, cots, car seats, toys, formula and toiletries.

It was lovely meeting the founder Tayla Nasmith who started Nurturing Families in 2012 when she was just 12 years old! Since then, the organisation has grown to help approximately 400 babies and children per month.

The team were completely blown away by what amazing work the organisation does to support struggling families. We were also saddened to learn that the need for support has never been so great and NF is already struggling to keep up with the demand. Nurturing Families is the village that supports hundreds of families every month. In the current economic climate their services are being requested more than ever before and they rely on the support of the community in donations of goods and funding.

October is their annual appeal month. Please visit the link below to see how you can support them in any way you are able to.
