Why Our Company Invests in Conferences: A Trainer’s Perspective

Why does The Face Place invest so much in sending the medical and skin teams to conferences? It’s a valid question. After all, attending conferences is a significant investment for our company, often raising questions about its worth due to potential revenue loss when teams are away. However, the benefits far outweigh the costs. Conferences offer unparalleled opportunities for learning, networking, and innovation. They provide fresh insights and ideas that can be directly applied to enhance our academy’s training programs. Dr. Catherine Stone, our visionary leader, strongly believes in investing in knowledge. This commitment, despite temporary revenue losses, ensures our growth and excellence at The Face Place. I am grateful for the opportunity to continuously learn and pass on this knowledge to future specialists.

Implementing What I’ve Learned:

Recently, I had the privilege of attending the New Zealand Society of Cosmetic Medicine (NZSCM) conference, a renowned event for aesthetic practitioners. This conference brought together experts from around the globe to share innovative insights and advancements in cosmetic medicine. As a trainer, I see these conferences as an essential part of our growth strategy. The insights I’ve gained will directly influence how I structure and deliver our courses. For example, I’ve learned advanced approach and emerging trends about skin enhancement. This was an eye-opening experience that shifted my perspective as a clinical trainer. As a trainer, I often focus on the technical aspects of treatments, diving straight into the complexities of injectables. However, NZSCM conference reminded me about the importance of pausing and revisiting the basics. Healthy and radiant skin is the canvas upon which all other treatments build. Moving forward, I plan to incorporate this holistic approach into my training session and training modules, ensuring that our academy remains a leader in aesthetic education.

Enhancing Teaching Methods:

One of the most valuable aspects of attending conferences is the exposure to different teaching strategies and methodologies. Listening to expert presentations and participating in workshops allows me to refine my own teaching methods. I can then incorporate these innovative approaches into our curriculum, making the learning experience more engaging and effective for our students.

Staying Ahead with the Latest Trends and Techniques:

Conferences are a goldmine for discovering the latest trends and techniques in aesthetic medicine. Whether it’s a new injectable product, an advanced laser treatment, or a groundbreaking procedure, these events offer a first-hand look at what’s new in the industry. By attending, I can bring this fresh knowledge back to my students, ensuring they are trained in the most current and relevant practices.

Understanding Regulatory and Ethical Standards:

In a field as dynamic as aesthetic medicine, staying informed about regulatory changes and ethical considerations is crucial. Conferences often feature discussions on these topics, providing insights that help me ensure that our training program adheres to the latest standards. This is essential for preparing students to practice safely and ethically in their future careers.

Improving Student Outcomes:

Ultimately, the knowledge and skills I gain from conferences translate directly into better outcomes for my trainees. By integrating new techniques, trends, and insights into our training program, I can better prepare our trainees to excel in their practices. This not only enhances their careers but also elevates the reputation of our academy.

As a clinical trainer in aesthetic medicine, my primary goal is to equip students with the knowledge and skills they need to excel in this rapidly evolving field. But staying ahead of the curve requires more than just experience and expertise—it demands continuous learning and exposure to the latest advancements. So, attending conferences is more than just a professional obligation—it’s an investment in the future. The benefits are manifold, from staying updated on the latest techniques to enhancing teaching methods and improving student outcomes. It’s about being at the forefront of the industry, so I can continue to offer the highest quality education to the next generation of practitioners.
